The Buffalo 2022 Fiano- 12 Pack

VINEYARD REGION: King Valley

THE WINE: The Buffalo Fiano is a vibrant green gold, with exotic aromas of papaya, lemon curd, almond kernel and toast. The palate is full, complex, and generous, with vibrancy and life, with an array of exotic fruits like green mango, custard apple, grapefruit, amaretto, torrone and spice leading onto an excellent mouthfeel and depth of flavour.

THE VINTAGE: 2022 was the middle vintage in the trio of La Niña weather events and like its siblings was a challenging growing season with record-setting winter weather. With volatile weather conditions at flowering, crops were down in the King Valley. Through good viticulture and high quality fruit, ultimately the wine quality was outstanding.

THE WINEMAKING: The Buffalo Fiano was picked in the early morning of 21st of March at 12.5 baumé at 12°C. The must was chilled to 8°C, crushed and pressed to stainless steel tank. It was settled for three days on grape lees, racked to tank and inoculated with an ester rich isolate producing exotic fruit expression. The wine experienced a medium fermentation between 14-15°C for about 20 days, these conditions preserved fruit flavour and imparted richness into the palate. Post fermentation the wine was pumped over fortnightly to impart extra flavour and mouthfeel to the wine from the wine’s yeast lees. A portion of wine was matured in French oak barrels to add complexity and structure. After 6 months of maturation the wine was blended and prepared for bottling.

FOOD MATCHES: Fantastic with white meats, roasted summer vegetables, oil based pasta dishes.
