BEST IN CLASS - 2024 Sydney Royal Wine Show
SILVER MEDAL - 2024 Sydney Royal Wine Show

VINEYARD REGION: Victoria

THE WINE: Without question one of the most personable and popular wine styles. Delicate and intense aromas of peach, apricot, lemon and orange blossoms with lifted wisteria and lime flower highlights. A wine of great appeal, the retained carbon dioxide from fermentation gives a mild ‘frizzante’ effect resulting in a fresh and lively wine. Served well chilled, this wine style playfully represents sunshine in a bottle.

THE VINTAGE: Experiencing a third La Niña year in a row made the 2022-2023 growing season a record-setting year from a weather perspective. With volatile weather conditions at flowering, crops were down in the Swan Hill region, but fruit quality, and ultimately wine quality, is outstanding.

THE WINEMAKING: The 2023 Muscat fruit for our NV Moscato was picked in mid and late March, at between 11.5 to 12.5° baumé. The fruit was pressed to stainless steel tanks where the juice was cold settled for 48 hours before being racked off juice lees. The principle behind blending our Moscato is that we finish with a more complete, complex and consistent wine. Using 2023 Moscato wine as the starting point up to 3 previous vintages have been blended togther. The blended base wine was charmat fermented slowly at 14°C with the natural CO2 produced being retained in the wine. At 8.0%v/v alcohol the fermentation was stopped by chilling the wine and filtering off yeast lees. After filtration, the wine was bottled under pressure with a crown seal closure.

FOOD MATCHES: Enjoy as an aperitif or with dessert. If you are serving as an aperitif, try pairing it with light appetizers such as fruit, cheese, or nuts. If you are serving with dessert, a classic pairing is with peaches or nectarines or for a more exotic pairing, try with mango or lychee.
