Limited Release 2022 Sangiovese - 12 Pack

VINEYARD REGION: Heathcote

THE WINE: This wine displays the depth, poise and balance for which this region and variety is building a strong reputation. The wine has an intense bouquet of wild black cherry and mulberries, with anise spice which leads onto a palate that has blood plum, sour cherry and bitter chocolate at its core. The palate flows seamlessly from the core of fruit and continues to drive along the palate with excellent length, ably supported by fine dusty and savoury tannins.

THE VINTAGE: The vineyards cycled through the growing season with their own individual rhythm, responding to the challenges of a wet, cool spring, and a long, dry summer to emerge with clean, naturally balanced fruit. The outcome is a low yielding, high quality vintage with strong aging potential.

THE WINEMAKING: Harvested on the 1st of April 2022 at very cool 15°C, the wine was crushed and destemmed to a fermenter to cold soak for three days. The wine was then inoculated with a specially selected yeast designed to bring out the structure and flavour profile characteristic of high-quality Sangiovese. The wine was carefully managed to achieve maximum colour, while keeping freshness and flavour intensity and extraction of fine grained tannins. The wine was fermented for 10 days reaching maximum temperature of 26°C before pressing off skins to tank and undergoing MLF on yeast lees to create volume and mouthfeel. The wine underwent 18 months of maturation in a combination of different vessels to increase palate weight and richness. The wine was filtered a month prior to being bottled.
