King Valley Shiraz

King Valley Shiraz

Situated in the foothills of the Alpine National Park, the King Valley offers a contrasting style of Shiraz, characterised by its cooler climate and diverse microclimates. This region is not only known for its Shiraz but also for its vibrant wine culture influenced by Italian heritage.

The King Valley's diverse landscape includes high-altitude vineyards, which benefit from cooler temperatures and a longer growing season. The valley's soils vary from rich, alluvial flats to decomposed granite and clay, contributing to the complexity and diversity of the wines produced here.

King Valley Shiraz tends to be more elegant and medium-bodied compared to the robust wines of Heathcote. These wines showcase red fruit flavours such as raspberry and cherry, accompanied by floral notes and a hint of spice. The cooler climate contributes to higher acidity and finer tannins, resulting in a more delicate and refined expression of Shiraz.

The Buffalo 2022 King Valley Shiraz has lifted red fruit aromas of cranberry, boysenberry and plum, with a background of toast and spicy oak. The aromas are echoed on the palate with red forest fruits, a vibrant cool climate, cool vintage acidity, bringing life and intensity to the wine and its generous full fruited palate.
